Alive again~
I arrived in New Jersey on the same day Osama Bin Laden died. I find it very ironic. (笑) Labels: accomplished, fail, interesting, japanese, memories, ohnoes, random, tired, troubling thoughts, worries
Some of my friends joked that I was to be his replacement. (笑)
Since I'm pretty much over my jet lag, I'm adjusting a little to life here.
There were many things I experienced on my way here. It took several connecting flights for me to reach home: one from Manila to Tokyo, a second from Tokyo to Seattle, and a final one form Seattle to New Jersey. Here are several highlights of my trip:
-I actually met the first dean of my university's school of management and his wife. They were wonderful people. His wife treated me like her own granddaughter. I felt very touched. They treated me to Mcdonald's while we were in Narita airport in Japan.
-Speaking of Japan, I have finally been there! To the airport at least. I pretty much bought random things in the airport shops, and got a free taste of mochi~ ♪
I was very excited about it--Japan is really, really beautiful, when you view it from the airplane window. The trees, fields, and buildings that you can see...they just look amazing, almost unreal. I couldn't stop staring out the window when we landed in Japan, and when we took off from it.
-Japanese toilets are also very interesting. So many buttons! (@_@)
-While I was in the airport, the dean's wife asked me to draw this bearded man in a turban sitting several rows away from us. This was the first time I'd ever been requested to do such a thing, and with realism in mind.
-Shifting across timezones is very freaky. If I think about it, I'd been traveling for more than 20 hours, I think, and yet I landed in New Jersey on the same day! (Which makes sense if you remember than there are 24 hours in a day, but still, it's a little freaky.)(笑)
-Static can be a little alarming.(>_<) I experienced it with my hair and clothes, which caused my hair to go haywire on the plane. Also, whenever I touched certain things, i would feel electrocuted. Static electricity is (for lack of a better word) shocking!
-I lost my chocolate cake dessert somewhere on the floor due to my own clumsiness. I felt very very depressed afterwards since I was really looking forward to a sweet. (>_<)
-Also, for the first time, I felt displeased with service on the airplane, because I was not given my pre-arrival snack. Again, I felt a little depressed as my seatmate ate his snack, while I had none. I had to press the button for service, and it took more than twenty minutes for them to notice and respond. (>_<) I got my snack in the end though. (笑)
Ah, I haven't adjusted the time zone here yet. To be honest, I'm reluctant to change time zone settings on my laptop. I like to be reminded what date and time it is at home. No matter, I'll figure it out eventually.
For now, I will rest again. I have so many things to adjust to!

Blackout.
Labels: interesting, ohnoes, school, sky, tired, troubling thoughts, worries
The rain was so bad yesterday!! (>o<)We got stuck in a school building waiting for it to let up. I had to take a photo, though I'm not sure if you can tell how bad the rain was from this.
Typhoon Basyang pretty much officially struck later that evening. I was working on some things on my laptop when I heard the wind pick up, and heard things get knocked over outside...It was a pretty scary thing to hear.
I don't like storms very much...and I dislike them even more when there are blackouts--not only is it nerve-wracking to hear the chaos, thunder, and howling winds outside, but it is also very dark and spooky. It makes me feel like a lost child. (>.<) The power came back to our neighborhood about an hour ago, so I tried to get back to work then.
Unfortunately, it might take a little while more to figure out my thesis...I don't have a theoretical framework just yet. Urgh...
On a side note, the integration seminar for seniors was actually quite entertaining--I attended it last Monday, and picked up some useful things...I guess.
They made us write "bucket lists"--things we want to accomplish by the end of our senior year. Honestly, it really serves to make me a little more pressured...Especially that bit I wrote about my thesis.
I'm determined to make my thesis based on the otaku culture here in the Philippines...and I know I will do it. I need to do this, to convince myself that I can...Research paper writing has never been one of my greatest strengths, and so I need to make this one particularly good.
No use worrying about it though...I need to actually do something about it. Ugh...The power blackout kind of halted my progress on my thesis...I need to find something.
頑張ります!

Monday was quite an entertaining day, too. (笑)
I had gone to ADMU to meet with Justin, intending to figure out what to do with the shrine that we had built for the KiraKira☆Matsuri. Since the Japanese Studies Department could not take it (they had no more space), we will have to dispose of it during the clean-up week set for orgs, to clear their org rooms of junk. Looks like that will be my duty for next week.
Well, since we had that cleared up, I went to meet Ochibi and Kin-chan, who'd gone to Cello's. As usual, when all three of us are around, Kin-chan gets herself into trouble with me, i pretend to ignore her, and in the end forgive her anyway. (笑)
Nikki also passed by all of a sudden. (笑) I hadn't expected to see her today, and it was a nice surprise. (^^) We also managed to contact EA--I was to face him in a Pokemon battle!!
Well, admittedly, he had the upper hand because I don't have enough battle experience. (笑) However, I did have my crowning moments of awesome!! Even if I only won once out of three different battles. ...And all this happened while Nikki tried to "rape-tickle" both of us. (>o<)
Still!!
I have discovered my hidden potential as a Pokemon trainer!! (笑)
My hidden skill will be a secret for now though. (笑) Fssshu! (笑)
I will conduct my research and face EA once more in battle!! And next time I will emerge victorious!! (笑)
頑張ります!!(笑)

And it was so cold, too!
Was basically running around all day attending meetings and basically just rushing about. (>.<)
Tomorrow is our cupcake event at MyPlace! Aaaaaaaa~!!
Everything is so rushed! (>_<)
And I haven't prepared all my things yet!! (^^;)
I think I will need a good rest after this...
Also, I have an oral exam with the dreaded Fr. Dacanay on Monday. After our event, I will use the weekend to study (>_<)
I will do my best!! ♪
I'm really sleepy now, though, I think i will go and rest, and do all the important work in the morning. (^^)
