I'm finally home~

And I was just given a most expensive gift @_@

This little crystal Buddha is a Baccarat. It's a crystal glassware imported from Baccarat, France; it's known for its quality and its...well, price. According to the little pamphlet it came with, "Baccarat is a master of light, creates objects that infuse the everyday with a scintillating atmosphere of enchantment", and "light becomes substance in its purest form". So yes, I take that to mean that they're good at what they do, have been at it for generations, and that this crystal is major quality. (>_<)

I was given one by a family friend, telling me that she had heard that Buddhas should be given, not just bought, and that it was for good luck.

Of course, I appreciated the gesture, but I was really amazed. For those who have read the book Ella Enchanted (I stress: the book, not the movie), it was like receiving an Agulen work. Agulen is said to be the master of pottery among the elves, and his work is most coveted. So when Ella is simply given an Agulen work just by admiring it and appreciating it from the bottom of her heart, she is overwhelmed. I think it was that same feeling, the feeling that you can't accept such a valuable gift, but your hands close around the gift anyway.

Then after realizing what it is, it becomes that moment in The Princess Diaries where Mia is given the locket with the Genovian crest, along with a jewelry box that belonged to her grandmother's great-grandmother. That part where she's all, "I will keep this safe. I will take good care of it." And proceeds to stuff the jewelry box in her bag, with all the clanking and shaking and basically, mishandling. (@_@)

Of COURSE I knew better than to just stuff the Baccarat box in my bag, I fixed my stuff around it and everything. But still. An overwhelming moment for me, thank you. (@_@)

But yeah. I'm finally home from nearly four days of staying and cleaning out my grandparent's apartment with Aunt#1, so admittedly, I'm a little tired. But I have to do a little cleaning of my own, in my bedroom. My mom and Aunt#3 did some work in my closet, and now I'm clearing away most of the things. Also, I do need to make space for some stuff on my desk.

Also, the highlight of today: I FINALLY KNOW WHERE NINTENDO WORLD IS. YAAAY~

At the end of it all, I'm still alive, and that's what matters~

IN THE HEIGHTS!

1:19AM @ NJ
I watched a musical on Broadway for the first time!

IN THE HEIGHTS!!!!!

It was an amazing performance. I could not believe my eyes or my ears. Everyone, down to the very last dancer, had so much talent, so much energy. I have never seen such an amazing performance!!

The feeling is indescribable. The musical had an amazing blend of hiphop, rap, salsa, and just...awesome singing. It really struck a chord in me, and it hit me close to home. It was about the life of immigrants in Washington Heights. I have never seen such life in a performance. The professional level is just so high above me, I can hardly believe what I'm watching is real. It feels so much like a dream.

The dance numbers, the songs, the acting...If only I could unleash that much force and energy in life.

Relaxed.

Just had a cold bath and a delicious dinner, nothing could bring the day to a better end (^_^)

Today was a day full of surprises! In one of my classes, our teacher, Jim Paredes (of APO Hiking Society) got someone to speak to our class about political humor, and who better to talk about it than Mae Paner, a.k.a Juana Change! She's a very funny political satirist whose Youtube videos are not only amusing, but very striking. She's been quite brave in speaking out her thoughts about Philippine politics (and politicians) and I admire her for it. (^^) I was lucky enough to have my camera with me, I took a photo with her at the end of the class. (^o^)/

Part of me feels that it was also a bit of a train wreck of a day, too. I got sprayed with the new Axe Twist earlier by a couple of friends, didn't really appreciate it (even though I like the smell of Axe in general). (>o<)!! It was not very pleasant.

Also, Toujin interviews continue! I got to meet some interesting people today and I'm glad to have stuck around, although Nikki on her sugar high kind of made me freak a little. (^^;) Aiyo.

In addition, I'm very nervous about my audition for Blue Symphony tomorrow...And I have a guidance test to worry about, too!! I suppose the relaxing end for the day is just to prepare me for the horrors tomorrow (>.<)/

In the end, it didn't rain today and I didn't get to do any special Tanabata rituals or whatnot to make up for forgetting yesterday. I should have burned a wish today or something? (>_<)

SHERLOCK HOLMES!

Finally watched Sherlock Holmes, after a very long wait! Since I no longer have any more exams to study for, Kae and I went off to the mall so I could FINALLY watch the damned movie. (>o<)

It was really epic. The music was very fitting, and the movie was overall very witty and action-packed.

I really appreciated how different and more self-sufficient Watson was portrayed by Jude Law, as well as Robert Downey Jr's quirky and mad-genius interpretation of Holmes. They had a good relationship with each other and played the roles so naturally. Casting was good for them. (^^)

"Relax, I'm a doctor."
Jude Law's Watson kicked so much ass. His wit and intelligence as a medical man came out here in the movie, which isn't as heavily shown in the original books, since Watson was nothing more than a recorder of details and an observer. Here, he willingly participates and openly helps Holmes not just with his revolver, but his great faith and belief in his friend, despite his obviously heavily strained relationship with Mary, and his amazing clash with Holmes.
Also, the dynamic between Holmes and Watson both as friends, partners-in-"crime", and colleagues, is very well portrayed. Watson's patience regarding Holmes' usual crap is virtually almost endless. Some weaknesses of Watson are shown too, like his apparent habit for gambling, and his desire to keep a clean reputation sometimes becomes an obsession. Overall, a very fresh and very , very engaging profile of Watson right here. (>_<) ♥

"You've never complained about my methods before."
Robert Downey Jr. was an excellent Holmes. The movie!Holmes goes beyond what we normally see in books, and most certainly beyond what we expect him to be. Holmes has been seen too often as someone who never gets his hands dirty, smokes a pipe and is all refined. Sadly, that isn't the case. He's a dramatic, crazy genius who depends on cocaine (or terrorizing the house on Baker street with his experiments) when he's not working on a case. And when he works on a case, he really goes all the way, down and dirty with evidence and other messy details. The greatest difference between Holmes and his brother Mycroft (mentioned very briefly in the movie) Is that Holmes has the energy and the drive to actually go out and look for the truth. Robert Downey Jr. certainly showed all this: the madness, the strength, the intellect, and the tenacity of Holmes, from the hair on his head to the overused soles of his shoes. ♥

Overall, an epic movie filled with romance (just enough to kee p certain things juicy), mystery, action (tons of it), and even comedy. Totally worth the price of going to see it.

I'm going to get my hands on the soundtrack if it's the last thing i do! ♪

07 Jan : Nikki's Return and Ochibi's visit

Nikki finally had time to visit after her return from her Junior Term Abroad. We hadn't seen her for almost 6 months, so yeah. We were very happy at her return (^o^) We flailed around at Gus's apartment watching Junjou Romantica and basically just being randomm.

We had dinner at Flaming Wings! (^o^) Hadn't eaten there in a while, so it was good. (>_<)

As a token for me, Nikki gave me Kraft Handi-snacks! I haven't tasted these since i was, what, ten? Maa. (>_<)

Here, here, proof of my self-control--there were still TWO left at the end of the day, okay guys? (>o<)

...Of course there were none left by the next morning... (coughs)

To top it all off, Ochibi made a surprise visit! I was so worried about her--she and her family had had a recent car accident on their way to Abra, and from what she told me, they were all very lucky to be alive. (>_<) the damage done to their car was horrifying, I'm so glad they're all back in Manila, safe and recovering from their wounds.

I'm so glad. (>o<)

Pandas!

Today a bunch of friends and I went out to watch A Christmas Carol~! (^o^)/

I kinda forgot to take a photo next to the poster (/sweat) but the cinema was so full of New Moon billboards and standees and posters that...well, i decided not to even try. (^^;)

Well, it was a pretty entertaining film (Christmas Carol, not New Moon) , and we had fun going round the mall looking at clothes and stuff, at least for me and Kae--Maita dragged the boys off to other clothing stores, so i dunno what happened to them. (^^;)

WE SAW PANDAS~!! (>o<) Well, stuffed pandas, but they were so cute !!!!

Yesterday's events and today's lunch. (^^;)

I would like to thank SmartBro for providing me with an internet connection in these troubled times !! (^o^)/

Even if sometimes, it sucks too. (>_<)

Well, since i was too lazy to blog yesterday, I give you details and lol.
Yesterday I used Spam to make my lunch, and ended up with Spam Musubi.
Today though, i rolled it like sushi to make eating easier.
I was bored. And now I need to think of more lunch choices. (^^;)

So, yesterday's events:
Kae showed me a Masa look-alike in this manwa (??) she bought:
I'm rather stunned and amused, actually. Aside from the long bangs, it *does* kind of look like Masa. (LOL)

After a while, though, i met up with Ochibi !! (^o^)/
We apparently have matching glasses now. (^^;)

We had donuts...

And camwhoring madness ensued.
We are, undoubtedly, very crazy. (/>o<)/

Ochibi, remind me to give you the full size of these photos sometime. Photobucket has image size issues and my internet isn't very reliable at the moment. (^^;)

I hope PLDT fixes their issues soon--i'm not too happy with their service at the moment. (>o<)/
Smartbro can only do so much! Mou. (._.)

So, anyway, i'm going to rest a little for now. Byebye! (^^)

P.S. Did i mention that we only ordered donuts about, oh, i don't know, TWO HOURS after we sat there spazzing and flailing around in general? LOL. We're lucky we weren't kicked out or anything, but then, how *could* they kick us out after we attempted to free one of the employees that had accidentally gotten locked in the back room? there was a problem with the doorknob, haha. The guard finally managed to get it open after I requested long-nosed pliers from the Hobby and Crafts store that shares the space with Cello's Donuts. And then suggested that they put tape over the hole where the tumbler falls into in the doorframe, so that the door wouldn't lock anymore. because another employee got locked in. (ROFL XD)

Greetings from the JSP dept !! (^o^)/

So, here I am, leeching wi-fi off Ateneo again, and sitting in the Japanese Department (^_^)v
Wearing the hat because it was hot today and I didn't have a hair tie to use. Boo. Still though, today was a fun day, even if it was the first day of classes.

Today, my only class was with my current slightly nightmare teacher, Fr. Dacanay. He teaches Theology 131, and like i said earlier, is rumored to be the best teacher for the subject. However, he is quite a terror when it comes to teaching, and is very very strict. He gave us a layout of rules in his class, some of which i will probably discuss if i ever find them necessary. (>o<)

Suffice it to say, it's going to be difficult to please him.

A couple of friends and I went off to Katipunan this afternoon to play a little Rockband. Gelo and Karen got all excited about Beatles Rockband, and so we tried it out. My only concern, of course, was improving my skills at the guitar.
Sadly though, I'm not used to these songs--I barely listen to the Beatles, and plus, i already have a slightly difficult time with regular rock songs in Rockband.
in addition, I really prefer Guitarfreaks for some odd reason. I guess it's because i really prefer Japanese songs? (/shrug)

Currently freaking out at the moment because after Kae took a look at one of Nakagauchi Masataka's music videos, she gave me a strange look--

Mostly because when Masa sang in the video, he held the mic a certain way, and even played with the mic stand a lot.

...Which is exactly what I did last time i gave a karaoke performance. from the way the mic was held down to playing with the mic stand.(/SWEAT)

And I'd never seen the video before the karaoke day.

I'm totally going to die now. (>o<)

2009-11-04

In conclusion.

Behold, new layout!!

I am proud, though I WILL fix my header. /determinedface

Today, when my grandparents arrived, we visited a relative's house where, lo and behold, there was a TIGER on the front porch. O_o

I'm not kidding. and it was ALIVE. my mom thought it was a stuffed animal or a statue at first, but it YAWNED and started moving. (>o<)

...Well of course I've always wanted a pet tiger, so.

I would have sat next to the tiger, but.. After seeing it chew ferociously on a towel and play with it like it was its prey, I kinda didn't want to go any nearer than this. If i were assured that it was tame...then maybe i would have petted it. (>_<)

..And so that was the high point of my day. We don't get many chances to get near wild animals, so. i decided to take my chance, though i think there was a 64% chance of me getting mauled. \(>o<)/
